Toronto has a museum dedicated to shoes. The Bata Shoe Museum takes you on a journey showing you how shoes have changed throughout history. You get to see shoe collections from different cultures and Shoemaking Traditions From Around the World.
The styles have changed, but it’s interesting that many of the elements used in shoe design still apply today. It’s also pretty amazing to see shoes that have been around since the 1400’s.
There’s a section on the website with podcasts. The podcasts provides information and background on a shoe each month. You can also visit the All About Shoes online exhibition which includes stories and artifacts from existing collections.
The Bata Shoe Museum is located on the southwest corner of Bloor Street West and St. George Street. There is a $14 fee to see the exhibits.
If you love shoes and are in Toronto, I recommend visiting The Bata Shoe Museum.
