A closer look at flowers

I took macro (close up) photographs of flowers during my trip. It’s amazing how changing your perspective can really alter the feeling of a photograph and make it more interesting. I really enjoy taking photos of flowers because they look pretty and delicate but possess power and strength.

2014 Tulip Festival

The Tulip Festival in Noordoostpolder, Holland is breathtaking. You are surrounded by so much beauty that it’s surreal and feels like a fairytale. It’s incredible to see all of the different types of tulips. This was one of my favourite sites in Holland. If you’re visiting during Spring, I recommend stopping by.

Spring Flowers
I saw a bouquet of flowers next to the road. I really liked the contrast between the strength of the cold, hard cement and the fragile, delicate beauty of the flowers. I took this photo in colour to highlight the difference between these two subjects.

Shadows on Brick Wall

I wanted the focus of this photo to be the view through the bars on the door. I took the shot on a slight angle and converted the image to black & white. I also adjusted the levels for more contrast.
