    Children running with tulips

While walking around the Tulip Festival, I noticed some children running through the paths. They were so happy and free. It was such a sweet, innocent and pure moment.

    Sunset over a Canal

Amsterdam is a beautiful, alluring city. I fell in love with the charming canals, the old architecture and the people. On my last night, I watched the sun setting over a canal and took this photograph.

  • Prague at night

    Prague at night

Old Prague is beautiful. It’s great to walk around, site-see and enjoy the architecture. I really like the effect when you can tell something or someone is in motion. I took some shots of moving objects and people.  The image on the left is of tourists wandering around old Prague.  The image on the…

    2014 Tulip Festival

The Tulip Festival in Noordoostpolder, Holland is breathtaking. You are surrounded by so much beauty that it’s surreal and feels like a fairytale. It’s incredible to see all of the  different types of tulips. This was one of my favourite sites in Holland. If you’re visiting during Spring, I recommend stopping by.

    View from a Plane

I went on a trip last week and visited Prague, Stockholm and Amsterdam. They are such beautiful cities and it was a great experience. I was really impressed with older architecture and how different each city was.  I took lots of photographs and will…

  • Spring Flowers

I saw a bouquet of flowers next to the road. I really liked the contrast between the strength of the cold, hard cement and the fragile, delicate beauty of the flowers. I took this photo in colour to highlight the difference between these two subjects.

  • Shadows on Brick Wall

I enjoy taking photos of shadows because they are interesting and unique.  I love the shapes and outlines that the shadows create. I saw a brick wall with a tree casting shadows on it. It looked like the tree was growing out of the wall and I thought that this would make an interesting photo.…

    View through a door

I wanted the focus of this photo to be the view through the bars on the door. I took the shot on a slight angle and converted the image to black & white. I also adjusted the levels for more contrast.

  • Broken Wooden Fence

I have been taking photographs from a close perspective lately. I saw a broken fence and felt that this would make an interesting photograph. I chose to shoot from a close viewpoint because I wanted the focus of the photo to be the splintered wood. I converted the image to black & white to place…

    Photographs from a closer perspective

It’s fun to take shots of objects from different perspectives. Things that look ordinary from a distance can look really special closer up. I wanted to share four colour photographs that I took of ordinary items. We usually pass by these items everyday and view them at a distance. I felt that the discarded newspaper on a bench, the…

  • Shapes & Shadows at a Playground

I noticed some eye-catching and unique shadows underneath a playground and was interested by the shapes that were created. I wanted to focus on the shapes and shadows and felt that the photos would work better in black & white. I adjusted the contrast and levels to add more depth and a create a dramatic feeling to the photos.

    Dogs in and around Toronto

I love capturing the beauty in things that most of us tune out. That’s why I enjoy taking photos of everyday objects. I think that for the most part, you can control shots of landscapes and objects. People and animals are a bit more of a wildcard. Just when you think you’ve set up a…
